Runaway Love by Melanie Harlow

Deliciously addictive, Runaway Love is fun, sweet, and steamy. Harlow is incapable of writing a bad book, and I’m incapable of getting enough of her work. The first in the Cherry Tree Harbor series is Austin and Veronica’s story. He’s the surly single dad that’s in dire need of a nanny after his baby sister who’s been taking care of his twins finds out about an opportunity she can’t pass up. Veronica’s set to be married until she gets texts meant for another person, which leads to a lot of hilarity and her out and about wearing her wedding dress. Lucky for her, she meets someone who knows of the nanny position, and things go from there. Austin is a total grump though and doesn’t make things easy for Veronica. She ends up his kids’ nanny anyway, but there’s a brewing attraction. Will these two be able to make things work, or will they get in the way of their own happiness?

I simply loved these two together! There’s so much chemistry and not just in the physical sense (although there’s plenty of that, too). He’s a touch curmudgeonly and focused on his family and work, and she’s the sassy spitfire that keeps him on his toes. All their banter and flirting is funny and charming, and I enjoyed the buildup between them. I even liked how in their own way they could be. It made the resolution that much better.

And true to Harlow’s style, we get such a fantastic glimpse into the secondary characters that help move this story forward. The twins? Absolutely adorable. Mabel? Love her to pieces. And Xander? He’s perfect, and I’m beyond grateful that we’re getting his story next. I already know I’m going to love him even more than I do right now.

This is another one of Harlow’s books that’s not to be missed. It’s all the things I want out of a smalltown/single dad/nanny romance, and I can’t wait to see what will happen in the rest of the series.
