This book had me feeling all the feelings: happy, sad, mad, completely irritated, and finally warm and fuzzy and satisfied. It was an emotional rollercoaster, and I was a mess! Having said that, I cannot even begin to express how much I absolutely loved this book!
Remi and August have been friends since they were kids and
in love with each other pretty much the entire time. Do they know they have the
same feelings? Nope. What fun would that be? Instead, they’ve shared moments
here and there over the years, and they both continued to write those times off
and never confront one another about what it all meant. Their lack of
communication, self-doubt, and fears left them both in anguish. Always Be My
Forever is the story of Remi and August navigating years of friendship and
their mutually believed unrequited love. It’s equal parts heartbreaking and
sexy and romantic.
These two! I was frustrated with both Remi and August so
many times throughout this book that I literally had to put it down. They kept
making me sad and then hopeful and then back to sad before finally giving me
what I wanted. I loved both so much and needed them to realize they loved each
other too, and I found myself emotionally invested in them. They are definitely
my new favorite Alexis Winter couple. And while I kept putting the book down,
I’d pick it right back up a minute later. It was absolutely addictive, and I
read it less than a day. I was stunned with how many emotions this book brought
out in me, and I mean that in the best way possible. A book must elicit a
reaction to really be considered “good” to me, and this book? It’s beyond good
and an absolute must read.
Always Be My Forever is well written and perfectly paced.
The story spans a couple decades, but it never drags or leaves you wondering why
it jumped from here to there. It’s a bit of a pet peeve of mine when a book
goes from something in the past to present day with no explanation and no
breadcrumbs leading the reader to a better understanding of why the story picks
up where it does. Winter did a fantastic job giving us enough of a backstory to
totally understand the characters’ motivations and their relationship.
Remi and August’s story is hands down the best romance I
think I’ve read this year. It had so much emotion in its pages, and from start
to finish it was beautifully heart-wrenching and addicting.
