Suspenseful, exciting, and steamy, The End of Us is an enthralling romance that you won’t want to put down. It’s riveting from the start, and its characters will pull at your heartstrings.
This story features Piper, the wealthy heiress YouTube star,
and Tristan, the ex-military bodyguard tasked with keeping Piper safe. Right
from the start, we find that Piper is in danger because of a stalker that will
stop at nothing to get to her. The dangerous predicament that she’s found
herself in causes her and Tristan to go into hiding until the stalker is
caught. Luckily, Tristan’s family owns a beach house in Florida that they can
escape to. There, these two navigate their situation in close proximity causing
them to go from bodyguard and the woman he’s in charge of protecting to something
much more.
At first, I was a bit skeptical of Piper because of her job
as a YouTube vlogger and that she’s from an exceedingly wealthy family, but I
was pleasantly surprised to find that she’s actually very sweet, genuine, and
even comical. At the start of being at the beach house, she’s a bit bratty with
Tristan, since she’s clearly got to be stressed out from the entire situation
and from her version of roughing it. The way she reacted to her surroundings
and I suppose lack of amenities that she’s accustomed to was actually pretty
funny. It was like living without air conditioning was really taxing for her,
and her reaction reminded me of Goldie Hawn’s character in the movie Overboard
in a way. I loved it. She was really kind of cute in her own way.
And Tristan! Just…oh my goodness! He’s caring and protective
and so wounded, and he’s truly the kind of character that will worm his way
into your heart quickly. I fell in love with this character’s unwitting charm
and fierce protectiveness over Piper. And his back story was phenomenally
written and heartfelt. I don’t usually read military romance, so I wasn’t used
to his kind of character, and it left me wondering why I don’t read more of it.
Tristan is the kind of character that will stay with you for a while for sure.
This romance is a definite must read for me. It’s got all the
aspects of a good romance with elements of excitement and suspense, too. You
won’t want to miss this one!
