Luca by Eva Winners

I can’t believe this series is already over, but what a way to end! Luca and Margaret’s story was the perfect ending to this set of books. Their tale begins with a steamy night involving masquerade masks, but that’s not where their story really begins and certainly doesn’t end. That one night together leaves Margaret pregnant but unsure of who the father is, which is probably a good thing because if she’d know it was Luca in that mask then nothing would’ve happened. She vehemently despises him, even though it doesn’t at all seem as though he shares the same sentiment about her. Eventually, things take a turn when they come to an agreed arrangement, but will they be able to make it work, or will discoveries about the past and one big decision about the future be too much for them?

I’ve adored all of the past heroes in this series, but Luca's absolutely beyond what I expected him to be. I adore how he is with Margaret and how he literally woos her. And she’s this incredibly strong and fierce heroine, and the only sort of woman that would’ve ever been able to tame Luca’s playboy ways. Together, their characters are excellent counterparts for one another.

This is the most romantic of the series for sure, and I couldn’t get enough of how it all unfolded. The chemistry between Luca and Margaret is explosively good, and their characters balanced each other perfectly. Their story is lively to say the least but peppered with such sweetness.

This isn’t exactly a short book, but everything that went on had me so engrossed that it felt like it flew by. The writing is well done as I expected from this author, but the way she weaved all the tension and drama into it just got me. I seriously could not put this book down. I love how Luca and Margaret’s romance played out, and the addition of the past characters from the rest of the series made it all that much more entertaining.

If you’ve read the rest of the series or just love mafia/dark romance, then Luca isn’t to be missed. I’m sad that Belles and Mobsters is over, but I can’t wait to see what else Winners has in store for us next.
