Aidan as the new boss is everything he needs to be. He’s
relentless in his mission and will stop at nothing to make sure the ones he
loves, especially Savannah, are safe. And I absolutely love that Savannah is
just as formidable. She’s smart and tough, and those that doubt her are sorely
mistaken. These two together are phenomenally paired and a definite power
couple. There’s love and tenderness between them, but they push each other, too.
That chemistry is palpable, and whether it’s their bickering or the steamy
moments, I loved seeing how their relationship grew and became stronger.
Also, it’s well written with so many twists and turns, and I
enjoyed how it all unfolded. So much happens, and it’s done in such an exciting
way that I didn’t want to put this book down. There is a ton of drama and the
way it’s all dealt with had me enthralled. There’s brutality throughout the
book, but then we get the moments between especially Aidan and Savannah that
provide a sweetness and complexity to the story which definitely worked to
balance it all out.
While this book is part of the larger series and reading the
other books first will give you plenty of background, it can be read as a
standalone. Akeroyd delivers all the spiciness and brutal drama you could ever
want out of a mafia romance, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
