I didn’t think it was possible, but these characters became
even better somehow. Stronger together and apart, Amon and Reina’s story isn’t
necessarily sweet, but I couldn’t imagine their characters with anyone else
ever. They’re quintessential soulmates, and even when they’re struggling, it’s like
they were still so right together. The way Amon loves Reina with such a
ferocity is beautifully depicted, and seeing Reina grow and persevere is made
me love her even more.
This trilogy was incredibly well written, and I always enjoy
how Winners’ weaves in bits and pieces of her previous storylines and characters.
It’s like getting a surprise visit from old friends, and I adore how perfectly
the plots or conflicts or whatever come across. You don’t need to read the
other books outside of this trilogy from this author, but the stories do
overlap. Plus, I love those characters and books and pretty much think everyone
should read them anyway.
After the cliffhanger that Unforgiving Queen ended with, I NEEDED
to know what happens with Amon and Reina’s story, and I am not disappointed. This
is a book and trilogy rife with tension, drama, deceit, and romance, and it’s absolutely
a must read.
