Made for You by Natasha Madison

Emotionally charged and thoughtfully written, Made For You is an utterly beautiful romance, and I adored every bit of it, even the hard parts. When Xavier and Vivienne’s book begins, we find him as a bit of a recluse having left professional hockey and now living on a boat with his dog Beatrice and her just having bought a boat and moving in next door (next boat slip?) much to her father’s dismay. At the start, Xavier is every bit the grump, which obviously Vivienne finds off putting given that she’s just trying to be friendly. Eventually, things evolve between them, but how will they manage their new relationship while dealing with secrets that they’ve been keeping?

To say that I loved Xavier and Vivienne’s journey is an understatement. There’s a very sensitive subject dealt with in this book, and the way it’s written is done so incredibly well and with such care. I don’t want to give anything away, but there’s a gravity to the subject matter that lends depth to the storyline. There were moments in this book in between the lighthearted banter or the comedic force that is Vivienne’s family that I was absolutely moved.

And Xavier and Vivienne have such great chemistry, and seeing how they figure things out is total proof of how wonderfully made for each other they are. He’s such a crab, but then she’s lovely and yet not a pushover. I loved seeing how she simply wasn’t going to deal with his being rude and then how he reacted to that. Also, shout out to Beatrice for bringing them together in the first place and not letting Xavier continue to ignore everyone around him. She turned out to be one of my favorite characters of the whole book.

Made For You is precisely why Madison is hands down one of my favorite authors. There’s witty dialogue, tenderness between characters, and a sense of realness to the storyline that hooked me from the first chapter and didn’t ever let go. I promise you’re not going to want to miss this heartfelt and engaging romance.
