Say You Swear by Meagan Brandy

I’m overwhelmed with everything I’m feeling about this book. It’s a slow-burn romance with so much emotion and angst written into it, and I’m simply in love with how this story unfolded.

This story focuses on Ari as the heroine. At the start, we find her going on her last beach trip with her twin brother and their lifelong friends. They’re all starting college soon, and they’re goal is to live it up together for a few more weeks before the semester starts. There a lot unfolds, and that all follows her and the others with them when they finally start their freshman year. I’m not going to say anything else about the plot of this book, because I don’t want to ruin it for you. Just trust me when I say this book is worth it.

The cast of characters in this book is awesome. They’re so connected and integral to each other’s lives, and you really get a sense of family between them. They’ve got their humorous moments and plenty of dramatic ones, too. Together, you get the sense that they’ll always be there to support each other, and it’s just sort of lovely.

And the hero! He’s wonderful! Like I couldn’t get enough of him at all. Now there’s more than one male character vying for the spot of ultimate hero in this book, so I’m not going to give his name. I’ll tell you this though: he’s heartfelt, and I don’t think anyone who reads this book would be able to say he’s anything less than a swoon worthy and sexy sweetheart. He’s one of the only heroes in my recent memory where I can’t think of anything I would’ve liked different about him. He’s just that good.

Then there’s the way this book is written. It’s mostly from Ari’s point of view, but there are a couple other characters that have their perspectives written, too. At first, I was a little thrown off by the only occasional parts written as the other characters, but I soon realized that it works for the pacing of this story beautifully. Who Ari ends up with is a mystery until the very end, and the way this book is written propels the story forward in such a way that it has you anxiously awaiting the ending. It’s incredibly well done, and I absolutely enjoyed the way this book was written.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster, but I mean that in the best way I possibly can. There’s happiness and some fun but also plenty of hurt, angst, drama, and I loved every bit of it all. This is definitely a must read that’s going to stick with you.
