More Than I Could by Adriana Locke

Adriana Locke writes some of the absolute best smalltown romance, and this book is a prime example of it. It’s witty and gives you all the feels, and you need this book in your life. It’s the story of single dad Chase, who’s in dire need of a nanny for a month while his mother (the regular babysitter) is out of town, and Megan, the newly unemployed out of towner that’s going to be taking care of Chase’s daughter. Right from the start, these two butt heads, but there’s a strong attraction brewing between them. After a not-so-great start, Megan moves in with Chase and his daughter Kennedy, but will these two be able to keep their hands off each other, or will their chemistry be too much to ignore?

Gah! These characters! Chase is the hottie grump who’s also a sincerely loving dad and all-around good guy when he’s not griping about things, and Megan is the charmingly snarky woman that’s knocked his world upside down. I love both of them in equal measure, and these two are possibly my new all-time favorites from this author. They’re wonderfully written, and their connection is electric.

And the rest of the Marshall family? I need more of them in my life like ASAP. Chase’s brothers are completely entertaining, and I enjoyed how well they played off of Chase’s big brother crabbiness. Even Chase’s parents were delightful. Add in Kennedy’s teenaged liveliness, and this becomes a truly all-star cast.

This story is more than a swoony romance (even though it IS a swoony romance). The storyline sets up Chase and Megan perfectly, and I love the banter throughout the book. The way the plot unfolds is engaging, and I didn’t want it to end. Literally, right from the start, I was sucked into this little Indiana town with these characters living their delightfully ordinary lives that makes it all so relatable simply because it all feels so real, so possible.

This book has the right amount of sweetness, heat, and humor woven through its pages that makes it a must read for me. So, if you’re looking for a solidly entertaining and smile-inducing story, then you’re going to want to read More Than I Could.
