Sweet, steamy, and emotional but fun, Only One Mistake will have you swooning. These characters and their story are so wonderfully written, and this is a total must read.
The sixth book in the Only One series stars Michael, the
newly traded professional hockey player, and Jillian, a kindergarten teacher.
They happen to meet the first night Michael is in town at a restaurant where
Jillian is supposed to be meeting up for her blind date. Not knowing what her
date looks like, she approaches Michael mistakenly thinking he might be there
for her, which is how they first meet. While her date falls through, things
work out in her favor, since Michael approaches her to join him at his table.
Right away they fall into easy conversation with plenty of fun banter, and
things escalate from there. Even though their night together is amazing for
both of them, something unfortunate happens that makes it so they don’t meet up
again for another few months. When they do find each other again, their
relationship takes off, and we get to see how they deal with their new
circumstances and how it all plays out.
These characters are everything! Michael is charming and swoon
worthy and everything good, and Jillian is hilarious, sassy, and oh so very loveable.
Paired together, these two make for one of my absolute favorite couples ever.
The chemistry they have is above and beyond, and their connection is electric.
The bond these two have from the very get go is palpable and seeing how their
relationship changes and grows is so compelling. Michael and Jillian together
bring plenty of laughter and romance but with so much steam, and the way their
story plays out is nothing short of beautiful.
And then there are the secondary characters, and each and
every one will at some point bring a huge smile to your face. The cast of
characters that Madison has created is one that is not only fun and funny but
also stronger together. They’re the guiding force that supports Michael and Jillian
during what could be a stressful time, and it all works to make the story more
complex. I feel like these characters sort of bring the ideas of family and togetherness
out, and not only does it make the story more multilayered, but there’s also a
certain loveliness about it.
I seriously don’t think I could say enough good things about
this book and its loveable characters. This book is somehow equally high on emotion,
heat, and sweetness, and it all works to create a pretty perfect romance.
