These two have known each other since middle school but were
always just friends. However, feelings between them weren’t exactly exclusively
platonic. Turns out Hutton has had a thing for Felicity for ages when she opens
her unfortunately overcompensating mouth to put Mimi Pepper-Peabody (I adore
how pretentious her name sounds BTW) in her place, and she lies and says she
and Hutton are engaged and getting married next month. Don’t worry. Felicity
isn’t mean spirited or anything. Mimi is just sadly unpleasant and desperate to
make herself feel good at the expense of making others around her feel bad, and
I kind of cheered for Felicity when she was finally able to one up her. Felicity
is actually a super sweet and cute sort of woman, and I immediately fell in
love with her character at that first snip of the scissors when she decides to stress
cut her hair. I found her stressed out quirk rather relatable. I mean, haven’t
we all been in a mood and decided to bust out the scissors and give ourselves
bangs? I know I have.
And then there’s Hutton, and he has to be the hands-down
best work-in-progress I think I may have ever read. What can I say? I love my heroes
a little messed up and in need of a bit of fixing but swoonworthy too, and that’s
him to a T. I think it’s so refreshing that in a billionaire romance our main
character isn’t some arrogant playboy that walks around with a chip on his
shoulder (though I love those too). He’s brilliant and has a good heart, but he
winds up so stuck in his head that sometimes he seems to get in the way of his
own happiness and what he really wants.
Oh and their chemistry is off the charts on every level!
They’re best friends that get each other completely, but then the physical
stuff is there too. Like oh my my is it there. Also, I love how their banter
flows and how they just get the other person. It’s cute and fun to say the
least, but then of course they have their hiccups, too. It’s those things that
arise that give just the right amount of drama, and I couldn’t get enough of
this book.
So, if you’re in the mood for plenty of laughs and romance, Tease
is a must read. This is exactly the sort of sweet, fun, and steamy book I’ve
been in the mood for lately, and I enjoyed it immensely.
