Tangled Up by Tia Louise

A super steamy and thrilling second-chance romance, Tangled Up is a compelling story with so much angst and romance. This is the fourth book in the Bayside Heroes series and is not to be missed.

This story follows Beck, the handsome doctor, and Carly, the beautiful and quintessentially good criminal psychologist. These two were at one point so completely in love until things in life changed the course of their young relationship, and they’ve been living separate lives for the last seven years. Both wind up back in the island town where Carly grew up and Beck spent his summers, since Beck has just treated an elderly gentleman in the ER that he’s known since childhood and wants to both check up on him and go back to sort his feelings out about how things happened with Carly. She’s essentially gone home to lay low with a potentially dangerous patient out to get her and stay with her aunt that raised her and her brother. In such a small town, they were bound to run into each other. There’s a lot of hurt, animosity, and confused feelings between the two, and we get to see how their reunion plays out in this heartfelt book.

I really felt so much for these characters. They’re both written as good-hearted and genuine characters, and it was so easy to like them. I loved seeing them reconnect. There was so much strife between them underlying their reunion, but when they would come together it was nothing but explosive chemistry. Life may have had other plans for Beck and Carly for a few years, but it’s like they were destined to find their way back to each other in such a beautifully romantic story.

This story is high on the angst scale, but it did take a while for all the secrets to come out. I do wish things would’ve been divulged a little sooner just for pacing’s sake, but overall the story flowed well. Something I enjoyed was the element of suspense and excitement with Carly’s dangerous predicament with her patient. It was a level of action that I didn’t see coming when I started the book, but it all played out so well.

This is an exciting romance filled with past hurts that inform the present, and it’s going to pull at your heartstrings. Tangled Up is a steamy and complex yet engaging second-chance romance that will keep you turning its pages.
