This is my favorite of the series with all its suspense and
drama. Adrian and Paige’s story is truly angst ridden, and I loved all the push
and pull. He so wants her back, and I love how all alpha he can get. He seems
remorseful but clearly has a hard time showing his true emotions, and I enjoyed
how complex he is. His isn’t what I’d consider a sweet character by any means,
but he’s exactly the sort of character this narrative needs.
And then there’s Paige, and her story made me a bit emotional.
You can sense her hopefulness in her youth, and the way she winds up a decade
later makes her the sort of character you have to root for. She has a lot going
on in her life, and things haven’t been easy, which is what makes her an even
more compelling character.
Then there’s the subplot that pops up throughout the book,
and I loved the conflict it causes. There’s always a sense of “what next?,” and
it makes for a sort of addictive anticipation. The tension that simmers below the
surface is palpable and finding out how it all unfolds helps make this story
such a page turner.
Deliciously angsty, Second Chance Mine is an entertaining,
dramatic romance. If you’re in the mood for a slow-burn romance with tension, then
this book is a must read.
