Having been in love years ago before breaking up, Tyler finds
his high-school love, Piper, working at his younger sister’s school. His sister
(whom he takes care of as of very recently), Everly, is a bit of a handful, and
Tyler eventually gets Piper to help him out with her by being there for her
when he’s out on the road. These two have such a history of love and heartbreak
and seeing how they rekindle is just the sweetest. Tyler’s such a good guy, and
Piper’s the kind of character that you love instantly. These two together just
make sense, and I enjoyed how their story played out through all their ups and
downs.
Also, like with all of Jenshak’s books, she includes well-written
secondary characters that help fuel the plotline and give the main characters
little pushes when necessary. I love how we get glimpses into the lives of characters
whose books have already been written, and they provide that extra element of
support and humor for the book. My favorite of these characters is Everly,
though, with all of her complexity. The way she and Tyler are together is
endearing, and I loved the conflict she brought to the story from the start. The
idea of family, whether it’s the kind you make or by blood relation, permeates
this story in the best way and creates even more depth with the characters.
This story is sweet with the right amount of drama peppered
in, and I loved seeing how these characters got their chance at finding each
other again. Tyler and Piper’s love is one of my favorites from Jenshak, and
you’re not going to want to miss their book.
