Beauty and the Brit by Poppy St. James features Sterling and Camryn, whom we met in Romancing His Rival. Camryn is tasked with working PR to get Sterling married off within 6 months so he can inherit the family fortune. These two have known each other for a long time, since their best friends are married, but have never explored their undeniable chemistry. Rather quickly, their relationship starts to evolve from acquaintances working together to friends to much more.
This Rom-Com is sweet and fun and kind of what I look for in
a light-hearted romance. There’s a sweetness to it with enough drama sprinkled
in to keep the story moving forward, and despite being able to assume what’s
going to happen, I still couldn’t put it down. The story was paced well, and
the characters’ interactions kept me interested.
I found Sterling to be endearing. He’s sweet with Camryn and
adores and takes care of his ill mother. Also, I liked how he wanted to give
love a chance despite his background. Camryn was enjoyable, but there’s an
uncertainty about her. She’s clearly interested in the connection with
Sterling, but she’s so unsure of herself that she had a lot of trouble figuring
things out with him. I mean I get needing her to question things for the
story’s sake, but I just found myself wanting her to stop doubting herself. Although,
without her internal back and forth, the story would’ve been over much too soon.
Regardless, I definitely wanted them to continue with the relationship and
didn’t want to put this book down.
Beauty and the Brit is a cute and quick read that you’ll
enjoy when you’re looking for a sweet romance. It’s the kind of book that will
leave you smiling.
