Something Like Love by Piper Rayne

This friends to lovers romance is steamy and a bit of an emotional roller coaster that I couldn’t get enough of. This is Cooper and Ellery’s story, and when we first meet them again in this book we find things have begun to be more complicated. Their friends only relationship is becoming a bit strained, and things are changing for them. What happens when their friendship changes to more?

I liked Ellery and how ambitious she was. There was more to her than just being the object of Cooper’s affection, and she’s a strong character. But Cooper? Cooper is one of my favorite cinnamon roll heroes ever I think. He’s so caring and such a genuinely good person and friend, and then to top it off he’s completely sexy, too. Together they’re the best of friends, and I loved watching their relationship evolve.

The storyline worked for me, too. Here's two characters that have been besties since college, but really there's always been an undercurrent of desire for them to be something else. There's a great deal of trepidation, though, and it's always stilted what could be. The tension that surrounds them and then bleeds into other parts of their lives really propels this book and their relationship. When things between Cooper and Ellery finally do start to go somewhere, everything gets even more interesting.

This is the final book in this series, and I’m sad it’s over. All the books are different, but we still get that commonality between the characters that I loved. I can’t wait to see what’s next with Piper Rayne’s next sports romance series.
