Poppy St. James’ Romancing His Rival features Noah as the charming playboy and Olivia as the feisty heroine devoted to her work. They’ve known each other forever and were friends until one incident in their college years has Olivia despising Noah. Unfortunately for her, their fathers, who jointly owned a company, have something else in mind for the pair. They’re both set to inherit the family business, but first they’ve got to get married. Noah’s all about it, but Olivia? Not so much. What ensues is a sweet rom-com that I couldn’t put down.
Both Noah and Olivia were strong characters that I enjoyed
reading. Their sparring with one another had me giggling and saying “aww”
constantly. The jabs, misunderstandings, innuendos, and sweet moments all
worked together to create a couple that were just too cute together.
This book is incredibly addictive. It’s every romantic
comedy that sucks you in and makes you want to start all over once you’re done
with it. There’s a lot of cuteness but also enough tension that you’ll want to
keep reading. St. James threw in a bit of a curveball towards the end, and that
was it. I couldn’t not find out how it ended, even though I assumed I knew how
the book would finish, and I wasn’t disappointed. Nothing was left unsaid, and
I’m happy with how it ended. Their relationship finally felt like it had come
full circle.
So, if you’re into a rom-com that’s going to keep you
interested, Romancing His Rival is for you. It’s got all the pieces that make
for a quality page turner that’s going to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.
