Cute, fun, and funny, Irresistible Trouble gives you exactly
what you want from a romcom. After many appearances in both this series and
other books from this author, Cooper finally gets his own book, and let me tell
you it does not disappoint. He’s the hilarious and charming baseball player
that’s a total playboy, and then there’s the heroine of this story: Waverly.
She’s America’s sweetheart popstar who finally runs into Cooper backstage at one
of her shows when he brings his not-so-great kids’ baseball team to meet the
singing star. That’s the first night they’ve seen each other in eight long
years, and neither of them have forgotten about the other. This isn’t an
instant relationship, though. A lot of time has gone by, and there are some
hurt feelings underlying their reconnection. However, little by little we see
them rediscover each other, and eventually we get to find out exactly what when
down all those years ago.
So, I knew I loved Cooper because of the previous books, but
his character is so much more than I thought he was before. He’s no saint, but he
is a total doll at the same time. He’s as witty and swoony as we already knew
him to be, and if you want proof just read (reread?) the other books in this
series. And Waverly? She’s hilarious and adorable and very real feeling at the
same time. I feel like only a character like her could’ve tamed Cooper, and I’m
happy it was her.
Also, this book isn’t just sweet peppered with some steam.
Oh no. It’s funny. Like make you laugh out loud and leave you in a good mood
funny. You’ll understand when you read the book, but the text messages completely
got me. Just hysterical.
And I enjoy getting glimpses of all the characters we’ve already
come to love in previous books. This cast of characters feels like family (though
some are actually family) and not just a group that works together or are simply
friends. They helped move this story along, and I love the support they lend Cooper
and Waverly.
If you’ve read a Pippa book before, you know you’re in for a
solidly written book that will get you smiling. If you haven’t, what are you
waiting for? Cooper and Waverly are one of my favorite couples from this
author, and you’re not going to be let down with this cheeky romcom.
