Tempt by Melanie Harlow

Seriously swoony and delightfully complicated, Tempt is the final book in this enthralling series and brings us Zach and Millie’s story. They first meet in New York when they’re both there on business, and they share that night together figuring they’d never meet again. Fate’s got other ideas though, and it turns out that Zach is Millie’s ex-boyfriend’s father (they just found out about each other) and she’s the wedding planner for his upcoming wedding. Despite trying to resist each other, they fail and pick up where they left off in New York. Will they be able to work through everything and be together, or will it all be too much?

I adored this book! Complicated doesn’t even begin to explain Zach and Millie’s situation, and it’s all that simmering tension woven throughout the book that makes it such a page turner. Zach’s newly found out about son/Millie’s ex Mason is a huge part of the reason things are so difficult, and I liked the conflict his character provided. The plot of this book is classic age-gap romance but with that extra drama that Mason’s existence brings about, and it is done so well.

And Millie is pretty much the best. I’ve loved her sisters, but her character is spectacularly strong and lovely and so real feeling. She’s plus-size heroine, and I love how she’s true to herself and knows her worth. Plus, I appreciate how her character is written. Like yes, her appearance is discussed to whatever degree, but it doesn’t dominate the storyline.

Then there’s Zach, and I he is one spicy ex-SEAL but genuine, too. He’s a tough guy but not a jerk, and I like how his vulnerable side would come out occasionally considering everything that went on. I couldn’t have wished for a better guy for Millie, and I loved getting to see his gentler side even though he seemed so hard on the outside.

I’m sad this series is over, but with Tempt it ends on such a satisfying note. The story was completely engaging, and I couldn’t get enough of Zach and Millie. If you love a good age-gap/forbidden romance, then I wholeheartedly recommend you not miss this must read.
