The Sin of Kissing You

Hughes has left me utterly stunned with The Sin of Kissing You. It’s also left me desperately needing the final installment of this trilogy.

The second part of Bay and Dare’s saga takes place in the month during Dare’s training camp and right before when Bay is supposed to be going to start a new job as an accountant even though it’s not really what she wants for herself. When they first reconnect, Bay is still so upset with Dare for how their relationship ended at the end of high school four years earlier. Slowly, they sort of get back together. Dare is so desperate to get Bay back, and she’s hesitant to say the least. Eventually, Bay gets a chance at her dream of becoming a musician, but she needs Dare to be able to sing publicly. So, despite not really wanting to give Dare a chance, she still strings him along so she can do what she needs to do to make her dream a reality. Along the way, we find that she does have real feelings for him and still cares. However, by the end of the book, their story hits another major and heartbreaking setback.

Hughes has done it again with these characters. They are so endearing and I cannot wait to find out how their story ends. What I liked about Bay and Dare is that I truly felt invested in them on their own and not just as a couple. I’m just as into finding out whatever their futures hold as I am in knowing how they find each other again. Hughes did such a good job that I found myself putting the book down for a couple days before finishing it, because I knew I’d be upset when it ended. To me, becoming that invested in a story is a sign that the book is well done and worth reading.

The hard part about a trilogy is waiting for the rest of the story, and after that ending I need to know what happens. I’m so completely into Bay and Dare’s story, and I can’t wait to see how their story ends!
