Come with Me by Brooke Montgomery

Come with Me is a heartfelt but spicy second chance, small-town romance and a fantastic introduction to the characters that we’ll be meeting in the series Sugarland Creek. It starts with Ayden leaving his terrible father and homelife to go off on his own and get out from his father’s clutches. Unfortunately, that also means leaving the girl he loves, Laney, behind, too. Only years later do they reconnect, but it turns out that when he left that small Texas town he left someone other than just Laney behind. Their reunion isn’t so simple though, and there are secrets that have been locked away tightly that will come to light. Will Ayden and Laney be able to truly find a future together, or will others interfere with their happiness?

What a great start to this series! Ayden is sort of the strong and charming type, and Laney is completely lovely and likeable. Years have passed, and a lot has gone down in all that time, but they’ve still got an undeniable connection that can’t be tamped down. It’s easy to see why these two work, but things have happened in those years apart and they need to sort through quite a bit before they get their happily ever after. I loved seeing the highs and lows of the evolution of their reunion, and when all the secrets really do come out, it’s so good. Add in the person that comes as a huge surprise for Ayden, and you get these super cute moments that I’m certain will make you smile.

This book has all the things that made me fall in love with this author when she was writing under another name as a duo with the storytelling and spice, and Come with Me doesn’t disappoint. Discovering the other characters we’ll be learning more about in the rest of the series made me excited for what’s to come next, and I can’t wait to get my hands on Here with Me.
