Seducing the Cowboy by Kennedy Fox

The final book in the series, Seducing the Cowboy is the finale to this phenomenal set of books that I didn’t realize I’d have such a hard time letting go of. It’s steamy and sweet and heartfelt, and now I’m left with a book hangover (in a good way).

The last of the second generation of Bishops to get married and have children, Kaitlyn is over not having the life she envisioned for herself at this point in her life and is willing to go through unconventional means to get it if need be. This book starts with Kane and Ivy’s wedding (from the previous book), and Kaitlyn’s having a bit of a tough time dealing with the fact that she’s the lone single Bishop left. She confides in her best friend Payton, and it turns out they want the same things. A little while later, these two concoct a plan to get what they want by entering into an agreement with each other, but how do they go about it all and still maintain their friendship? Plus, add in the fact that there’s always been something simmering there between them, and Kaitlyn and Payton’s perfect plan turns out to be not so perfectly simple.

I’ve been excited for Kaitlyn and Payton’s story for so long, and I was not disappointed! The chemistry between these two is off-the-charts hot and their friendship is absolutely beautiful. I love how solid their bond is, and then seeing how they navigate their new “endeavor” is equal parts sweet, fun, and addicting. The connection between Kaitlyn and Payton is palpable, and the evolution of their relationship just makes sense. The idea that they’d look to one another to start the next chapter of their lives feels both appropriate and exciting, and I love how it all unfolds.

Also, these characters are so well written. Kaitlyn’s struggles all feel very real and understandable, and I automatically empathized with her. Even after she and Payton start trying to make their dream come true, things prove to be more difficult than she anticipates, and it all brings such an emotional element to the storyline. And Payton? I knew a couple books ago that he would wind up becoming one of my favorites in the series, and he turned out to be exactly what I wanted for Kaitlyn. I adore how he’s this sort of tough quiet guy, but then he’s caring and vulnerable underneath it all. Kaitlyn and Payton make their perfect pair, and I loved seeing how they went from friends to so much more.

This is a hard series to see end, but what an ending. The epilogue is everything, and I’m not a big crier, but I cried reading this one. All I can say is that I’m more than happy that there will be another generation of Bishop family books, and I cannot wait.
